Business By Design - Scaling with Your Human Design Energy Type

The biggest reason that I see clients struggling to make sales, maintain consistency, and even experiencing burnout in their businesses, is because they are trying to work in a way that doesn’t support their Human Design energy type.

Human Design (HD) is a combination of ancient energy systems, such as Astrology, the Chinese I Ching, the Kaballah, Tree of Life, the Hindu Chakra and scientific principles of Neuroscience, Biochemistry & Quantum Mechanics.

It is essentially a blueprint of who your ‘best self’ is meant to be at a soul level, so that you can operate, and create success in the most aligned way to you and your energy type.

As a collective, we all have our parts to play in maintaining harmony, and our own unique strengths and skills we bring to the table. We are not meant to all be the same and excel in the same areas.

Understanding how your energy type is optimised in business is key to ensuring longevity, sustainability and scalability in business. If you are working outside of your energy type, you will feel it at an energetic level which will be affecting not only the money that you are making, but also how much fun you will be having too – and guess what ladies – you get to have it all – ease, flow, fun AND income!

Below I have summarised the overarching themes of each HD energy type, and how to use your energy type to build and scale your business:

Generators

You are the life force of the collective – the action takers who push things forward.

When you work on things that light you up, your battery is continually recharged and you can go forever. You are magnetic and everyone loves to be in your energy. You can magnetise opportunities, ideas and people into your life easy. You are here to master your craft and become the go to expert in your field, because you are such a great leader and people love to follow you. Fun is an integral part of your business model.

The flip side is, when you are not lit up by the work that you are doing, it literally drains your energy and everyone can feel it. You are a hard worker so may also end up in the trap of doing things for the sake of it, so be conscious of where you are actually needed and don’t validate yourself by being ‘busy’.

You are here to respond to industry trends, client feedback and opportunities that come your way so make sure you learn to move quickly. Create polls to initiate feedback, call out clients in your sales copy and ask them to DM you so you can respond to their enquiries.

Sell in your stories, create engaging live video content that feels authentic to you and from the heart. Document your journey with behind the scenes content, Vlogs, Blogs and essentially live your best life and clients will be drawn to you.

Manifesting Generators

You are the super humans of the collective and are typically a multi-passionate, get shizzle done kinda woman.

Your role is to move quickly and take inspired action as it hits. Not everything will be a win but its about keeping things moving and going with your intuition.

You probably have multiple books, podcasts and courses on the go at one time and that is ok. You are not meant to finish everything you start. You are the queen of collapsing time, as you often master things quickly and then move on. You often redefine what is realistic. You have to follow what lights you up, and you are reenergised by your work, when you give yourself permission to work in this way.

You need to build your business without too much rigid structure in place so you have creative freedom to move as new projects (and inspiration) arise. Variety is important. Don’t commit to too much in advance or containers with long durations, as once the energy has dissipated from a project it can feel like pulling teeth. Your energy can be activated by others who spark your inspiration, you can then make things your own from there. Embody your passion to become magnetic to your ideal clients. Always lead with your gut, check in with others and what listen to what ‘feels’ good to you.  

You can sometimes go too fast and make mistakes, which isn’t a problem, but make sure you are supported by a team (or pass over projects) who can execute on your big picture plans. You can find it hard to niche and that’s ok.

Sell in your stories, live content, engaging videos, workshops, live events where people can ‘feel’ your energy, share your successes and wins so clients find you and you don’t have to chase. Trust the right clients will be drawn to you, you don’t need to be for everybody.

You are the innovators of the collective, you have a strong internal guide and always do things your own way.

You are here to initiate change and wont be influenced by others. They are the changemakers, trailblazers and visionary leaders. They talk, people listen.

You are great at starting and creating new projects but you don’t need to be the one to execute them. You have bold opinions so don’t be afraid to speak them and repel the people you are not aligned to work with. You can prefer to work on your own but you need a team to support your growth. You need to rest between projects as your energy doesn’t regenerate like the other HD types.

You are here to initiate action so can be proactive in creating sales, you love to jump into DMs or make direct invitations to work with you. Create original content and offers with bold branding and activating marketing language and strategies. People sit up and take notice. You move fast and make quick decisions but are built to work in cycles of high energy followed by rest periods. You are the table.

Projector

You are the wise owl of the collective. You have a great strategic overview and can see all the moving parts in any project. You love systems and order.

You are here to guide the other energy types and always ask powerful questions, so make a excellent coaches, advisors and networkers. You see everything that goes on.

Your aura is magnetic to invitations, you are often asked for advice by others because you are seen as an authority. You love to be recognised for your talents and prefer to be invited before giving your opinions or input. If you try to offer unsolicited advice, you can feel rejected if it is not taken.

You are not designed to work super hard, or for long hours as your energy does not regenerate. You would rather focus on quality over quantity. You tend to work within a niche and are known as an expert.

You need to intentionally plan time for rest. You work best in 4 stage cycles, stage 1 is the inspiration, stage 2 is the putting it into motion, stage 3 is scaling yourself out of the project or passing over to a team to execute, stage  is resting and recharging, waiting for the next project.  

Course creation is a great way to scale. Guest expert sessions to other people’s group is a great way of having your expertise recognised, in a safe and trusted environment. Attract sales by nurturing your audiences and owning your expert status, creating quality, value based content and resources. You are magnetic to invitations from others. Evergreen sales strategies are ideal for your energy type, make sure you have clear call to actions and invitations to buy. Don’t give yourself too much work to do, even if you think you can do it better or you will burn out your energy.

When you consider all of these nuiances, in the way that we can work to our best in business, its clear to see that there is no 'one size fits all' approach. When building your business, you have to take into consideration so many different factors, about yourself, that start at a soul level.
